If your Child has died and you wish to decrease your isolation, maybe this is the forum for you
Anam Cara Parent Bereavement understands we don't live in an ideal world, we live in the real world and our precious children have died before their time. Bereaved parents have set up this organisation to help themselves and all bereaved parents cope with their grief and loss and journey on.
What is the purpose of the Anam Cara Support Evenings?
For bereaved parents the loneliness and isolation following the death of our son or daughter can be overwhelming. The Anam Cara parents evenings afford bereaved parents an opportunity to meet with other bereaved parents in a relaxed and safe setting.
Where do these Anam Cara Satellite meetings take place and what format does it take?
The Anam Cara Support meetings are informal get togethers for parents over a cup of tea or coffee, they normally take place in a comfortable family resource centre or community centre and have a professional bereavement therapist present to help facilitate the peer support.
How soon can I go to these meetings?
There is no right or wrong time to attend a Support meeting. Most of us desperately want to talk to another bereaved parent after our son or daughter has died, to try and make some sense of the pain and despair we feel. We would recommend you call 01 4045378 to find the nearest meeting to you. We can then give you all the informatrion you need about Anam Cara and the meeting. The Anam Cara Private Message Forum is a safe online medium you can use to connect with other bereaved parents www.anamcara.ie/forum
How can the Anam Cara Satellite group help me?
By getting together with other bereaved parents who although on the same journey, may be a little further along, can offer you an opportunity to talk to someone who completely understands how you are feeling and as some of our bereaved parents have testified, give you some hope that you will cope and survive through the intense grief and feelings of loss.
I may find it hard to attend on my own, what would be best for me to do?
At Anam Cara we do undertsand that it can take a lot of courage to go to these Satellite meetings, if you would prefer, we could arrange for one of our volunteers to meet you just before the meeting starts. If you would like to do this, just drop us an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
