Barretstown Bereavement Camp
Barretstown has offered camps to seriously ill children since 1994. Sadly, some of these children will not survive and in line with Barretstown’s aim to support the whole family (parents, siblings and the sick child), it seemed appropriate Families are invited to attend these camps and are accompanied through the weekend by supportive staff. The emphasis is on acknowledging the reality of their loss but allowing them to have fun if they want too. It is often the first time the family have been together as a family since the death and can offer them some comfort in knowing that things will get better. {see Self Help Page}
Camps run Thursday through Sunday and each family will be invited to 2–3 camps. Although not part of the programme ongoing support after camp can be arranged if required by General Practitioners, who can access Bereavement Support Service
